Big Barn Camping & Glamping
A unique farm stay, located in peaceful countryside with a relaxed environment for the best kind of enjoyable stay.
About: The owner runs a smallholding with a variety of animals. Feeding time is popular with guests, where you can feed the animals and learn about their care. There are chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs and geese. Free range eggs are sold and a small honesty shop offers the basics for your camping trip.
The camping paddock is set at the top of the farm away from the animals, and with only ten pitches all individually encapsulated by long grass, you can feel the space around you. All pitches have a picnic bench and fire pit, and logs can be purchased for a reasonable price.
Three little Barn Eco-pods and a beautiful, fully-kitted out bell tent are set apart in a field next to the camping paddock with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
With an exclusive woodland campsite with a glamping tent in its own private spot down by the wood, complete with composting toilet, kitchen, picnic bench and firepit, you will feel like a VIP with nobody around you.
Facilities: The Big Barn is the heart of the campsite where you will find your washing up areas, hot showers, composting toilets, charging points, drying lines and your recycling point. Solar panels provide the lighting and gas boilers heat the showers. Should the weather turn, then the barn has plenty of space for dry respite.
The Surrounding Area: Laugharne (Talacharn) is located on the south coast of Carmarthenshire on the Pembrokeshire border at the estuary of the river Taf, made famous by the poet Dylan Thomas and most recently the BBC TV series Keeping Faith. Learn about the life of Dylan Thomas, and visit the Boathouse which was Dylan's family home. You can enjoy Dylan's Birthday Walk which is about 2 miles/3.2 kilometres and will take you uphill where you can enjoy the magnificent estuary and Laugharne Castle which dates back to 1116. Dylan's writing shed, the Gower, North Devon, Caldey Island and Tenby are all in view, or just walk the town identifying filming locations from Keeping Faith.
Worth Noting: Big Barn is 10-15 mins from a number of local beaches and close to the A40 at the end of the M4, it's the ideal place to stay as you can easily travel to any number of locations and attractions in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire to enjoy all that's on offer. Big Barn cannot be underestimated or a lovelier place to stay on such a great small eco-friendly site where time passes you by.
