Wytch Wood Camping
Peaceful woodland camping with campfires, starry skies and great food, in a secluded Somerset valley.
About: Hidden in a secluded valley near Crewkerne in South Somerset, Wytch Wood Camping is a woodland campsite with 17 camping pitches and two glamping stays. Named one of Time Out’s Top UK Campsites, it has also won multiple Awards for Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism at the Bristol, Bath & Somerset Tourism Awards.
Pitches sit beneath mature beech trees or beside a wildflower meadow, ideal for birdwatching, starry skies and evenings around the campfire. Each pitch has its own compost loo, food waste bin, seating area and firepit with grill. There is space for up to five campervans and some pitches can accommodate hammock tents. There is also an enhanced pitch with a covered outdoor kitchen. Pitches range in size and outlook - choose your pitch at time of booking. Glamping includes Birdsong, a fully furnished and equipped 7meter XL bell tent with private kitchen and shower.
Facilities include fresh spring water, hot showers with clear roofs, and hot washing-up areas. Faith in Nature products and eco-washing up liquid are supplied, along with many recycling options. Communal areas include a lovely garden and picnic area, a covered barn with seating, electric charging points (note no EHU), communal fridge, books, games and small honesty shop selling firewood, ice cream and essentials.
Barista coffee, a small bar and wood-fired pizzas are available on site throughout the season. Along with a schedule of activities including Bat walks, bushcraft, archery and axe-throwing.
Getting To Us: M5 Taunton – 18 miles ~ 35 mins. A303 Stoke sub Hamdon or Ilminster – 8 miles ~ 20 mins. A30 Chard/Crewkerne – 2 miles ~ 5 mins. Crewkerne Station – 4 miles. Less than 3 hours direct from London Waterloo. Collection by arrangement. Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast – 15 miles ~ 30 minutes
