A private and peaceful campsite, perfectly placed for exploring St Michael’s Mount and discovering the gateway to West Cornwall.

About: Kerthen Gar is a spacious, level, south facing campsite surrounded by trees and open fields in beautiful West Cornwall. We focus on creating a peaceful, wildlife-friendly environment, so unfortunately we are unable to accept children or pets.

The site extends across eight acres, offering plenty of space, privacy and natural tree cover. We have parking spaces for five campervans in a level, gravelled area near the entrance, with pop tops and awnings welcome. In the summer months it may also be possible to park further into the site on the grass.

The campervan area includes a fire pit, wood store and lawn space, along with a comprehensive recycling area and bike rack.

For guests bringing tents, the camping field sits at the centre of the site, with numerous glades and quiet spots to pitch and enjoy the surroundings. The new facilities block provides two flushing toilets and two hot showers.

There is also a large log store on site where dry firewood is available to purchase. As an off grid campsite we are unable to offer electric hook ups, but we do provide charging points for smaller devices.

Kerthen Gar is ideally located to explore both the north and south coasts of this stunning part of Cornwall. To the north are the beautiful sandy beaches of St Ives, Carbis Bay and Gwithian. To the south you’ll find Porthleven, renowned for its excellent food, along with St Michael’s Mount and Penzance, home to the iconic Jubilee Pool and promenade.

Worth Noting: Kerthen Gar is directly connected to the local network of footpaths and bridleways, allowing for wonderful walks straight from the campsite. Just down the road you’ll also find the 16th-century Godolphin House, a beautiful National Trust estate that is well worth a visit.
