Springfield Woods
Beautiful private woodland, where you can enjoy being in the middle of the woods, without being in the middle of nowhere.
About: Springfield Woods is a two acre woodland perfectly positioned to give you the sense of escapism, offering an opportunity to reconnect with nature and enjoy being amongst the trees, countryside and wildlife. All whilst being a five minute walk to the nearest pub, shop and café in the village of Skirlaugh.
The woodland is accessed by a private drive making. Parking is available on the field and from there, it’s a short walk to where the pitches are situated. The pitches are bordered by the stream on one side and woodland on the other. Hang your hammock, relax and enjoy the surrounding forest and wildlife.
Campfires are allowed next to the tent, or we have a communal campfire where you can enjoy meeting fellow campers. There are just eight pitches in total, so the woods are never crowded.
Upon entering the woods there is a gentle slope with a picturesque view over surrounding fields. The designated amenities area consists of composting toilets, gas powered shower room and a washing up area.
Towards the bottom of the woods, there is a separate area for Forest School sessions which run twice a week during term time. When this area is not in use, children camping with us can play in the dens, test their balance on the slack line or create mud pies in the mud kitchen. You are also welcome to book a Forest School style session for you and your family. This can include cooking on an open fire or making with tools or whittling (for older children).
There are plenty of places to explore, with the nearest beach six miles to the east. To the west lies the picturesque market town of Beverley, while the bustling City of Hull, home to The Deep, various galleries, restaurants, and shops, is just six miles to the south. There are many country and coastal walks nearby. For the cyclists, the East Riding is a favourite destination as there is little in the way of hills. Springfield Woods is two miles from the Trans Pennine Way, which leads directly into the heart of Hornsea along the former railway line.
Worth Noting: There is a designated area in the field for parking. Its just a short walk down a gentle slope to the pitches but a trolley is worth bringing. We accept well behave dogs. Campfires are allowed if off the ground and logs are available to purchase on site. There are a few solar powered lights on paths but it is worth having a good torch.
