Puddlemire Camping

A small, family run rural camping retreat, nestled in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside.

About: Puddlemire sits just a mile or two south of Kirkby Lonsdale, tucked between the rolling pastures of the Yorkshire Dales and the dry stone walls of the Lake District. It’s a small, family-run campsite with space for tents, alongside three site-owned bell tents, all set on grassy pitches bordering the banks of Lupton Beck. Sheep and cattle graze peacefully in the surrounding meadows.

Facilities are simple yet well maintained, with hot showers and flushing toilets available to all campers. For those seeking a little extra comfort, the 'By the Beck' pitches each have their own private shower and composting toilet - ideal for keeping wet clothes out of the tent and providing a convenient space to change after a refreshing dip in the beck.

The site also offers fire pits for hire, perfect for relaxed evenings spent barbecuing, stargazing, and listening to the abundance of wildlife around you.

We’re fortunate to have The Plough Hotel just a scenic walk from your pitch, serving excellent food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

For those keen to explore, walks from the site lead to Newbiggin Crags, where you can discover striking limestone pavements within a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. A short drive will take you to highlights such as Sizergh Castle, Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve, Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, White Scar Cave, and Lake Windermere - as well as the charming town of Kirkby Lonsdale.

Worth Noting: Cars must park in the designated car parking area with wheelbarrows available to help transport camping gear to the pitch. Help is available if required. Access to the site is via narrow country lanes. Sorry but dogs are not permitted. Ice packs and phones can be charged on request.
