Big Barn Camping & Glamping
A unique farm stay, located in peaceful countryside with a relaxed environment for the best kind of enjoyable stay.
About: The owner runs a smallholding with a variety of animals. Feeding time is a favourite among guests, offering the chance to feed the animals and learn about their care. Residents of the smallholding include alpacas, chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs and geese. Fresh free-range eggs are available for purchase and a small honesty shop offers the basics for your camping trip.
The camping paddock sits at the top of the farm, away from the animals. With just twelve pitches, each encapsulated by long grass, you’ll truly feel the open space around you. Every pitch comes with its own picnic bench and fire pit, with logs available to buy at a fair price.
The one Superior Camping Pitch is situated in a private field for those campers who like to be on their own. The pitch has the added advantage of being the closest to the main barn and all its facilities while still remaining private.
Three little Barn Eco-pods and a beautiful, fully-kitted out 6-meter Stargazing Glamping Dome are set apart in a field next to the camping paddock with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
With an exclusive woodland campsite with a 6-meter Stargazing Glamping Dome in its own private spot down by the wood, complete with private shower, kitchen, picnic bench and firepit and composting toilet, you will feel like a VIP with nobody around you.
Facilities: The Big Barn is the heart of the campsite where you’ll find washing up areas, hot showers, composting toilets, phone charging points, freezer for cool blocks, honesty shop for essentials, drying lines and recycling point. Solar panels provide the sites electricity and should the weather turn, the barn has plenty of space for dry respite.
The Surrounding Area: Laugharne (Talacharn) is located on the south coast of Carmarthenshire on the Pembrokeshire border at the estuary of the river Taf, made famous by the poet Dylan Thomas and most recently the BBC TV series Keeping Faith. Learn about the life of Dylan Thomas, and visit the Boathouse which was Dylan's family home. You can enjoy Dylan's Birthday walk which is about 2 miles/3.2 kilometres and will take you uphill where you can enjoy the magnificent estuary and Laugharne Castle which dates back to 1116. Dylan's writing shed, the Gower, North Devon, Caldey Island and Tenby are all in view, or just walk the town identifying filming locations from Keeping Faith.
Worth Noting: Big Barn is 10-15 mins from a number of local beaches and close to the A40 at the end of the M4, it's the ideal place to stay as you can easily travel to any number of locations and attractions in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire to enjoy all that's on offer. Big Barn cannot be underestimated or a lovelier place to stay on such a great small eco-friendly site where time passes you by.
Pitches: 12 standard & one superior, bring-your-own tent pitches. Three Little Barn Eco Pods and two 6-metre Stargazing Glamping Domes.
