Lower Marlpits Camping
A small campsite close to Honiton, with a shepherd's hut, bell tent and spacious camp pitches. The perfect place to rediscover nature.
About: Lower Marlpits Camping is set on our small farm near Honiton. We’re keen to protect nature, therefore our farm is on the 'wild side' with areas left for wildlife habitat. We have a herd of grass fed cattle - we also keep rare breed chicken, ducks and geese. These roam freely around the farm. We sell our own eggs, apple juice, jams, and vegetables at the farm gate. The campsite is set across two fields. The lower field is for tent pitches only. This is a beautiful hay meadow setting with a lovely backdrop of St Michael’s church in the background and far-reaching views.
The top 'glamping' field is set on the hillside with far reaching views towards Dartmoor. Here we have the shepherd's hut and bell tent. The field surrounds you with nature and wildlife. At certain times of year, the hedgerows are an abundance of colour, lined with bluebells, foxgloves, wild primrose and red campions. The hedgerows form a corridor for the wildlife and often you’ll see a trio of deer, or foxes - and in afternoon, red kites circling the valley. At night you will hear tawny or little owls anf see bats flying. It truly is a beautiful spot to immerse yourself in nature.
Location: We are perfectly situated in the east Devon countryside, in the Blackdown Hills AONB. We are just half a mile from Honiton, so we have the perfect mix of town and country. You can easily walk to shops, pubs and eateries along public footpaths. The railway station, with mainline to London - Waterloo, is a 10-minute walk. So, if you fancy a car-free holiday, we are the perfect location! If you do have a car to explore, you'll be spoilt for choice with many of the Jurassic Coast's seaside towns, fishing villages and beaches all within a 15-30 mins drive.
Worth Noting: Sorry we cannot permit dogs because of the farm livestock. Limited car parking - one car per pitch. A hard standing is available for parking. Each pitch is provided with a campfire. Firewood available to purchase on site.
Number of Pitches: Six, including a shepherd's hut and bell tent.
