Gweek Campsite
A tiny campsite, a lovely setting and the magical charm of west Cornwall.
About: Gweek Campsite is perfectly located to access many Cornish attractions. Situated on the Lizard Peninsula we're ideal for exploring the many stunning coves, beaches and villages close by.
Located in the rural depths of Cornwall, our little campsite is a short stroll from the head of the River Helford and the picturesque village of Gweek. At its heart are the 'Cornish Seal Sanctuary', the 'Black Swan' pub and the 'Gweek Classic Boatyard'. Locally sourced food is served at the 'Boatyard Cafe' and pub, whilst across the little stone bridge, you will also find the well-stocked village shop and post office.
Within five miles are several supermarkets and the 'Natural Store', selling organic health foods. Located here, the Penrose National Trust site is home to Cornwall’s largest natural lake, Loe Pool. A walk along its woodland paths with views of the water is a must. You may even spot one of its elusive otters!
And for those interested in helicopters and planes, Helston is home to the Culdrose Airfield Viewing Area!
We are close to Falmouth, with its coastal charm, sub-tropical gardens and maritime history. Here, you have access to water sports, fabulous restaurants and cobbled streets lined with cafes. The foodie scene continues closer to us with the Potager Garden and harbour town of Porthleven (see our website for a full list of attractions).
If you are feeling adventurous during your stay, there might be the opportunity to help the Clean Ocean Sailing organisation also based in Gweek. They recover stranded marine plastic from beaches which endangers local wildlife.
With the nearest beaches being a 15-minute drive, you will appreciate our hot showers to wash the salt and sand off at the end of the day. We have ten camping pitches including one glamping option.
The campsite is on the grounds of the old Gweek Nursery so you will notice our large glasshouses, now being used to grow organic food.
Worth Noting: Hot showers, full recycling facilities, public footpath from campsite. Campervans welcome.
