Woodlands Camping
A small, eco friendly campsite on the edge of the South Downs National Park.
About: If you want to be immersed in the outstanding Hampshire countryside, surrounded by stunning views with plenty of space, peace and quiet, then we may have the spot you’ve been looking for.
Located on the northern edge of the South Downs National Park, about five miles drive south of the village of Alresford, our seasonal, eco-friendly campsite is set on a working equestrian centre.
Our campsite pitches are located on the edge of a sprawling 200-acre woodland. To ensure ample space for all, we've intentionally restricted the number of pitches available, even during the peak season. So, you can enjoy a peaceful and spacious camping experience. We have a ‘leave no trace’ policy in place and all our guests are encouraged to do their bit to help preserve the natural environment that surrounds us.
The location of the site makes for great days out, with easy access to the South Downs Natioanl Park and numerous footpaths and bridals ways in stunning scenery, no matter what time of year. For very local walking, it's roughly a one hour walk to get to The Fox at Bramdean via footpaths and bridal way. A little further and you’ll find the Thomas Lord in West Meon.
The village also offers great river walks along the Meon Valley River Trail. A little further on at Warnford, there is the Old Winchester Hill, which boasts some of the most fantastic views over the South Downs. At the bottom of the hill you’ll find the George & Dragon pub, where you can enjoy a lovely beer garden by the river. New Alresford is the closest town with a couple of small supermarkets, local shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. There is also The Watercress Steam Railway and many other attractions in the area.
There are plenty of options for different days out too. Literary fans may like to drop in at Jane Austen’s House (15 minutes), while those with more of a scientific outlook explore the exhibits at Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium (15 minutes). National Trust estates at Hinton Ampner (15 minutes) and Uppark (half an hour) are worth visiting as well.
Worth Noting: Compost loos provided on site. We reccomened bring a torch.
